Quests

You will complete many levels, called quests, as you progress through the game. Each one has different objectives to complete. Here is how you choose which quest to play.

  1. Tap on Quests on the home screen.
  2. Decide which type of quest you want. The Story quest will be used as an example. In the first picture above, you will come to a screen which lists all the Story quests on the bottom of the screen. The menu in the middle of the screen shows that level’s objectives. If you complete them, you will receive the rewards to the right. Here, there are avatar coins and a Keyblade material. You do not need to complete them all to move forward, but you can come back and retry. The menu also shows the target enemy, who must be defeated to complete the quest.
  3. Tap Begin.
  4. Choose which Keyblade you want to use. As shown in the second picture above, you can switch them by either pressing the left or right arrows on the screen or swiping left or right.
  5. Choose a Friend Medal. As shown in the third picture above, they are medals that the members of your team share for others to use. If you’re not on a team, it will be a randomized list. You can swipe up and down to see all the medals. If you tap on the medal itself, you can see what attack it does. When you find which medal you want, tap to the right of it.
  6. Tap Start and begin playing.

Movement

To move your character, you can tap on a specific point and it will run there. It is easier to tap and hold so the character will run continuously. To engage an enemy, make your character run into them (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

Treasure Chests

These are scattered throughout the level. There are five types, each with separate contents. Purple, blue, and red chests contain medals that can strengthen your other medals. Purple chests have the best rewards, followed by blue, then red. These three chests may also have enemies hidden in them. You can tell this because they shake every so often. Orange chests contain orange orbs that refill the Special Attack Guage. Green chests contain health orbs that refill your health. To open any of these, just tap on them. The rewards you get from them go to the two box-like figures on top of the screen (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

Attack

There are three different ways to attack:

  1. Tap to do a single strike. Tap on a specific enemy to attack it.
  2. Swipe from left to right to do a spin attack. This attacks all enemies.
  3. Tap and hold on a medal and swipe to the middle of the screen to use its special attack. Each medal has a different attack.

Enemies

They are called Heartless in this game. When they are defeated in battle, they give your character resources. The first is munny, which is a currency used to help strengthen your medals. It is represented as the yellow diamond-like symbol on the top of the screen. The other resource you receive is Lux, the blue star-like symbol on the top of the screen that represents the experience you have earned from their defeat (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

Health Bar

The Health bar is the green bar in the top left corner. It indicates how much damage you can take before you die. There are three ways to replenish your health: defeat the enemies, use a medal with the special attack that cures you, or find a green treasure chest (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

Special Attack Gauge

This is the orange bar under the health bar. It determines how many special attacks you can perform based on the number on the medal. For example, the Aqua medal (the second on the Keyblade in the first picture under the “Game Screen” section), will use four bars. Also, due to its special attack, it’ll use an additional two bars. There are three ways to replenish your special attack bars: defeat the enemies, use a medal with the special attack that replenishes it, or find an orange treasure chest (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

Medals

The medals appear in the bottom left corner of the screen. Each medal is used up when you do any of the attacks mentioned above. You can do seven in a row. When they are all used, your turn ends and the enemies’ begin. If there are any enemies left, they will each do one attack. When each one has finished, it is your turn again.

As you can see, each medal has a number on it. This indicates how many bars it will use from the special attack gauge bar if its special attack is activated. The special attacks vary from medal to medal. Some of these can replenish your health, cure status conditions, weaken enemy defense, increase your strength, or even perform the same attack as the medal before or after it. There are many other attacks available (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

The Strength Triangle

This appears in the bottom right corner of the screen.  Each symbol is used to denote the type of medal and enemies. The Power symbol is red with a sword in it. The Speed symbol is green with a wing. The Magic symbol is blue with a star. The triangle itself shows which attacks work better on which enemy. Power medals work better against Speed enemies, Speed medals work better against Magic enemies, and Magic medals work better against Power enemies (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

Options

The Options menu (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
The Options button is in the top right corner of the screen. When you tap on it, it will tell you the quest’s objectives. It will also give you the ability to access the sound settings and an option to quit the level if you want to (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

Nova and Supernova

These two symbols appear below the Options button. The orange symbol is Nova, while the blue one is the Supernova.

Nova is an attack that creates an explosion that damages all the enemies in the battle you’re in. To use it, tap on the orange symbol. The higher the level, the more damage is done.

The Supernova is the same as the Nova, but it is linked to a specific medal. You can have multiple Supernovas, as long as the medals are set in your Keyblade. To use, tap and hold the blue symbol, then slide down to the one you want, and let go (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
