Keyblade Setup
Starlight (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).A Keyblade is the sword-like weapon your character uses in battle. As you progress through the game, you unlock different types of Keyblades. In the game, you have to strengthen them through many different ways (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]). The following sections will help you to make your Keyblades as strong as you can.
Where Do You Obtain Them
Keyblades are normally found after you complete the first set of story quests for each Disney world you come across. There are a few that require you to complete a certain Proud Mode quest. Below is a list of Keyblades in the game and the world you obtain them in:
Three Wishes (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).Starlight – Starting Keyblade in Daybreak Town
Treasure Trove – Dwarf Woodlands (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
Lady Luck – Wonderland (Alice in Wonderland)
Three Wishes – Agrabah (Aladdin)
Olympia – Olympus Coliseum (Hercules)
Divine Rose – Beast’s Castle (Beauty and the Beast)
Moogle O’ Glory – Moogle O’ Glory Quests under Special Quests
Stroke of Midnight – Castle of Dreams (Cinderella)
When you are in the Equipment menu, switch between Keyblades by swiping either to the right or left (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
Strengthening Your Keyblades
As you play through the game, you will collect the materials necessary to level your Keyblades up. Once you have all the materials you need for one, tap Equipment from the home screen. From there, tap on “Keyblade LV UP,” then “Strengthen” twice (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]). Below are the different materials you will need and where to find them.
*Materials
Some examples of materials (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).There are many different items that you can find when you play quests. They will appear as sparkling items on the ground. Some types include flowers, mineral ores, vials of water, etc. The Keyblades have their own sets of materials, which are mostly found in the worlds you obtain them in. Below is the list of Keyblades that use this type of item:
Starlight
Treasure Trove
Lady Luck
Three Wishes
Olympia
Divine Rose
Moogle O’ Glory
Stroke of Midnight

This item is used for the Keyblades listed in the previous section. They can be found as the third objective of the Story Quests (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
*Gems
The five types of gems (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).There are three types of gems that are used on every Keyblade. They are the red Power Gem, the green Speed Gem, and the blue Magic Gem. You can obtain these from the Monthly Gem quests, the Proud+ quests, and the Chasm of Challenges quests under the Event Quests; from the Premium Avatar Boards; and from the weekly Solo Rankings.
The Sun and Moons Gems are used only on a few Keyblades. You can find Sun Gems in the Proud+ quests under the Event Quests. Moon Gems are found in different quests in the Event Quests. It changes regularly, so a specific quest can’t be pinpointed. One example is the Hades Cup, but it is always temporary. Another place to find Moon Gems is in the Player Vs. Event quests of the Coliseum after beating Tier 15. Below is a list of Keyblades that use these gems:
Starlight
Treasure Trove
Sleeping Lion
Counterpoint
Fenrir
Darkgnaw
Missing Ache
Fairy Stars
Diamond Dust
(Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross])
*Electrum Ore and Dark Matter
Electrum Ore (“Keyblade – KHUX Wiki”).
Dark Matter (“Keyblade – KHUX Wiki”).
Both of these materials can be obtained by completing objectives in the Proud Mode quests. They are only used on the Keyblades obtained from Proud Mode, and each one only uses one or the other.

Keyblade Setups
From here on out, you will have to be in the Equipment menu. From the home menu, tap the Equipment button and you will be shown you Keyblades.
Each Keyblade needs to have attack medals put onto them so you can increase your strength and defense (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]). However, you can’t just randomly put them on and hope for the best. The following sections will help you to understand the basic concepts of how to add your medals effectively.
*Types of Keyblades
Each Keyblade is aligned to one of the three medal types: Power, Speed, or Magic. While some Keyblades use one exclusively, some have a combination of two or all three. You can tell what they will be from the medal slots, which will be described further below. This is brought up first because if you know what the Keyblade uses beforehand, then you could focus on strengthening the specific medal first. Below is a list of Keyblades and their types:
Divine Rose (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).Starlight – All three
Treasure Trove – Power
Lady Luck – Speed
Three Wishes – Magic
Olympia – Speed and Power
Divine Rose – Magic and Speed
Moogle O’ Glory – Power and Magic
Stroke of Midnight – All three
Fairy Stars – All three
Sleeping Lion – Speed
Counterpoint – Magic
Fenrir – Power
Darkgnaw – Power
Missing Ache – Speed
Diamond Dust – Magic
(Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross])
*Three Loadouts
Olympia (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).You will see that there are three numbered pentagon-like shapes above your weapon. Each one is a loadout, where you can put different medals into each one. You will only be able to use the one that is highlighted, but this is a great way to try different medals out to see how well they work together. For example, you could test out some medals in the first loadout. If there were any you liked, you could put the same medals into the third loadout. After you test the final version, and still have some doubts about certain medals, you can switch them out for others (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
*Medal Slots
The medal slots are where you will place your medals when ready. There are three things you need to know about the slots: their types, their alignments, and their multipliers.
Stroke of Midnight and its medal slots (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).The slot types are somewhat similar to how the Keyblades have their types. Around each slot, there are one of three different colored auras. These help you determine which type of medal goes there: red for Power, green for Speed, and blue for Magic. Medals will also have the same color in their bottom right corner, which will help you in placing them.
The alignments are the second part of both medal slots and medals. As shown in the slots, the backgrounds are either gold or purple. The gold means Upright and the purple means Reversed. When considering the medals, the Upright will be the heroes and the Reversed will be the villains. For example, if a slot has a blue aura and purple background, you would want to place a Reversed Magic medal there.
The reason you need to know both the slot type and alignment is so you can get the slot’s multiplier. Inside of each slot, you will see two sets of numbers. One is next to one of the three types, and the other is next to the symbol of one of the alignments. The numbers
Slot 1’s multiplier (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross])indicate how much the strength and defense will be multiplied when a medal is placed. The reason there are two is that you can obtain either one if you place the right medal in the slot. The first number is if you put the right type in the slot. The second number is if you place a medal with the right type AND alignment in. So, in the picture to the right, you will receive a 1.100 multiplier if the medal is Power, but you will receive a 1.900 multiplier if it is an Upright Power medal (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
*Subslots
The subslots are a feature where you can increase the multipliers’ numbers for each Keyblade. To access it, you should tap on the Subslot button on the Keyblade menu. There, you can place your 7-Star medals here. Each gives a different amount to the total. Placing medals into the slots is just like placing them in the Keyblade slots. However, it is easier to hit the Optimize button because it will fill in as many slots as it can. There are 120 slots. When the medals are in the slots, you will see a number with a plus sign near the top. This indicates how much the multipliers will increase. Using the same slot from the previous section as an example, the 1.100 and 1.900 multipliers will increase to 2.858 and 3.658 respectively. Whenever you get new 7-Star medals, come back and tap the Optimize button to see if the multiplier can increase any further (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).

*Cost
The cost is the limit to which you can place medals in your Keyblade. The maximum cost limit is 223. Medals usually have a cost of forty-six. So six slots multiplied by forty-six is 276. You can lower the medal’s cost by twenty. To learn how, click here. You need to be under the 223 limit to be able to place the six medals you need (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
Setting Your Medals
The proper order of medals is, the topmost slot goes first. It then goes clockwise for medals two through five. The sixth medal will appear when you tap on the Spirit button. When you go to insert your medals, tap on Swap Medals. Then, tap and hold a medal and drag it to a slot (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
There are different ways you can set up a Keyblade, but below is a list of medals you will want to use:
Buff or Debuff Medal – you use these medals for one of two things: to increase your strength and defense or decrease enemy strength and defense. This should be placed within the first three slots.
Imitation Medals – these medals copy the special attacks of other medals. There are two types of these medals: some copy the medal placed after them and some copy the medal before them. You could place two around your buffer medal or one next to an attack medal.
Attack Medals – these medals usually cause the highest damage to your enemies. They should be placed after your buff or debuff medals to deal out even more damage.
So, a setup following the details of the medals above could be:
Imitation Medal of the following medal
Buff/Debuff Medal
Imitation Medal of the preceding medal
Attack Medal

There are other details about medals you would need to know, like skills and traits. They will be discussed further on this page. If you want to see some examples of Keyblade setups, traits, and skills, you can watch this video (“KHUX Keyblade setup Tutorial!!”).
The setups are more of a personal preference. You don’t have to exactly follow any of these guides, but they can help if you’re having trouble defeating enemies. The following picture shows one Keyblade that mostly follows the typing and alignments, has a correct placement of a buff/debuff medal, and doesn’t use imitation medals.
Fairy Stars (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
Swapping Out Medals
There may be a time when you have to switch the medals on your Keyblade with a new one. The process of doing so is the same as putting medals in the slots. Tap on Swap Medals, then tap and hold on a medal and drag it to the slot (Kingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]).
One site that can help you in swapping medals is the “KHUX Medal Tracker & Damage Calculator.” From here, you can click on any medal that you want, and it will tell you if there are similar medals that can be either stronger or of a different type and alignment. For example, if you have the Reversed Speed Prime – Roxas & Xion medal, click on it to view it. A little underneath the picture of the medal, there is a section titled “Similar Medals.” For this particular medal, it says there are three medals that are the same strength as it, but of different types and alignments. There is one medal, KH III Riku [EX+], that is an upright speed medal stronger than Prime – Roxas & Xion. You can do this for any medal you want, but the newer medals won’t have sufficient information until the website creator updates it (“Medal Directory”).
